George M. Steinbrenner Field, formerly known as Legends Field,[2] is a baseball stadium located in Tampa, Florida. The stadium was built in 1996 and holds 10,000 people.[3] George M. Steinbrenner Field serves as the home of the Tampa Yankees, the Class A Advanced affiliate of the New York Yankees. The stadium also serves as the spring training home of the New York Yankees.[4]
The ballpark had been known as Legends Field since its inaugural season in 1996. The park was renamed in honor of George Steinbrenner, the Yankees owner on March 27, 2008 [3], and was announced on February 14, 2008.
